Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Service providers are currently seeking to offer high-quality IP broadcasting service on single broadband network infrastructures, including ADSL and passive optical networks (PON). One of motivation of our work is increasing the bandwidth utilization efficiency of IP broadcasting channel to home subscribers and reducing the channel zapping time. We propose a high-definition IP broadcasting architecture for multi channel broadcast and fast channel selection over GPON. We adapt the optical broadcast nature of a GPON to IP multicast networks to effectively broadcast video content to home subscribers. We then propose IPTV channel selection scheme in the GPON ONT by selecting a multicast stream at a subscriber's home. We analyze the bandwidth efficiency of GPON and IP multicast co-operative broadcast scheme and the channel selection time. The result shows that our proposed architecture can achieve 100-channel HDTV broadcast and a 10-msec IPTV channel selection speed.
