| Abstract(in English) | Most ETC OBE (on board equipment) system in the market is composed of 3 pieces, such as antenna, main unit and ETC card. Main unit is located in the console box for security and the length of the coaxial cable between the main unit and the antenna is about 3 meter. The higher antenna gain is required to overcome the loss of the cable. Therefore many manufactures adopt "Air suspended patch antenna" with a ground plate and a metal plate fixed by screws. On the other hand, ETC OBE system inside the rear view mirror or over-head console is located near the antenna and the length of the coaxial cable becomes short. So the higher antenna gain is not necessary in this system and the printed patch antenna on the printed circuit board is able to meet the antenna gain specification. However, this antenna receives the undesired reflection waves due to broad directional pattern compared with the air suspended patch antenna. To overcome this problem, we propose the "double patch antenna". This antenna has the patch on the small printed board and the ground plane on the other printed board and the patch is assembled on the surface of the ground plane. The basic characteristics are summarized in this report. |
