Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We study on insects classification by color histogram generated from the input insect images. The objective of insect classification is to develop a way which simplifies the process of counting and identifying different kinds of insects for purposes such as disease and insect population control. In this research, we represent insects using color histogram as a primary feature for classification. We also perform feature transformation, and classification by statistical pattern recognition methods. Experiments show that color characteristics in circular region contribute to higher classification performance.
