Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In accordance with Moore's Law, CPU performance has enjoyed a steady 2x performance increase every 1.5 years; this has led to subsequent increases in supercomputer system performance. This paper defines various quantitative parameters to measure operational frequency, the number of transistors, and power consumption, and then utilizes those parameters to create a comparative analysis of several currently existing microprocessors. Additionally, the influence of CMOS scaling is considered and evaluated. The paper concludes with a discussion concerning the future direction of microprocessor design.
