Abstract(in English) This paper presents a suitable structure of a balun using a multi-layer substrate. In a conventional planar balun, it is necessary to narrow the space between the coupled lines for obtaining wideband characteristics, but the space between coupled lines has constraints of the production process. Since coupled line of the proposed balun is a suspended line using the multi-layer wiring structure, the coupling factor can be large without constraints of the production process. The wider bandwidth characteristics can be obtained easily. The proposed balun has the perfect symmetrical circuit to realize wideband and good balance characteristics at high frequency. We fabricated the balun using Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) substrate for the 5GHz band. From the measurement result, the frequency range of 1dB increase from the minimum value of the transmission loss is 3.23~6.15GHz(bandwidth of 2.92GHz, bandwidth of 58.4%, and center frequency of 5GHz), the amplitude differences were within 0±1dB and phase differences were 180°±10° over the frequency range of 3.23~6.15GHz respectively.
