Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The authors have been studying a unified micro-cellular network named MM-MAN which is expected to be an IP-based, future mobile multimedia network accommodating even fast terminals. To offer high bit rate packet transfer, and accommodate large number of BS, PON (Passive Optical Network) and LMC (Logical Macro Cell) are introduced for the discussion. On the protocol of the MM-MAN, this study concluded as follows; (1) The packet sequence control is conducted by the mobile terminal and CN (central Node on an Optical Line Terminal of PON), though the function of BS plays the main role in packet transfer,. (2) A master BS is necessary for each LMC. (3) The data transfer acknowledgement like in WLAN is unnecessary, since the polling and acknowledgement for the polling substitute for the data transfer polling. (4) Extension of LMC which works only for the terrestrial network is very useful to the mobility management and packet down loading. (5) Sequence skip in packet transfer is useful for the congestion release in the IP transfer.
