Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) As the number of Internet users has increased recently, multi-user simultaneous data delivery services, such as video streaming and network games, have been provided. If the conventional unicast communications are used for such services, network congestion would occur due to the increase of traffic transmitted. We have proposed the μSEcast protocol, which encapsulates two or more unicast packets into a single packet and transmits it. This mechanism carries out a multicast-like function that reduces traffic on the backbone network. However, the conventional μSEcast brings about a restrictive effect since it can be applied to UDP packets only. This paper improves the μSEcast protocol to apply to TCP as well as UDP. We implement the new version of the μSEcast on PC routers, and evaluate its performance.
