Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | In this research, we analyzed nods which occurred near the last part of utterances in spontaneous dialogues by Japanese Sign Language. The spontaneous dialogue data were recorded in the environment where they can look at each other via prompters and used for the analysis. As a result, two types of nods were observed; one synchronized with the final motion of utterance and the other occurred after the final motion. The former type resembled the nods in Japanese speech and it was suggested that they had the same function like showing the end of utterance. On the other hand, the latter type was peculiar to Japanese Sign Language and it was suggested that this type of nods had the function of connecting the previous utterance to the next utterance and its function is equivalent to conjunction. |
