Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A new short pulse generator is proposed by using an FET gate switched frequency multiplier for the short range radar application. Conventionally, it was difficult to generate a short pulse with a high on-off ratio. The new multiplier is switched by control signal at an FET gate, and generates a 2nd harmonic short pulse signal intermittently. The value of on-off ratio is affected by the design method of RF interface part. The performance of the speed of intermittent operation is affected by the design method of gate bias part. The fundamental signal which leaks at off-state can be suppressed by a simple filter. At 25GHz band, a fabricated short pulse generator achieved 900ps pulse width with a 42dB on/off ratio in 4mW power consumption.
