Abstract(in English) | This paper proposes the extraction method of the character string area for the signboard understanding. In the first step, stable background area is extracted as candidates of the signboard area from the input image, and the signboard area is decided by using the degree of circular. In the second step, the information area is extracted from the signboard area by using the contrast of the color. In the third step, candidates of character string area are extracted from the information area by using blank patterns. Finally, the character string area is decided by the feature that the each character size of the character string is similar and each blank space between characters is similar and so on. |
