Application of MSE-OFDM to DVB-T System(WSANE2007)

Abstract(in English) This paper focuses on the new technique termed Multi-Symbol Encapsulated OFDM (MSE-OFDM), which was recently proposed in order to overcome the disadvantages of OFDM, and proposed an application of this scheme. Althogh, OFDM has been used in the European standard of Terrestrial Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB-T) system, it has drawback of low bandwidth efficiency due to the large number of CP. Furthermore, OFDM has two main drawbacks of hifh PAPR and sensitivity to frequency offset. The application of MSE-OFDM to DVB-T thus improves the system performance due to that the two implementations of MSE-OFDM named CP-reduced MSE-OFDM and FFT size-reduced MSE-OFDM can improve the bandwidth efficiency or the high PAPR as well as the sensitivity to frequency offset.
