Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a tamper detection for images. The proposed method utilizes the idempotence of mathematical morphology operations, i.e., a recursive operation with the one structuring element to the one image generates the same output image as the previous operation does. If tampering applied to an operated image, the idempotence no longer holds. The proposed method, thus, can detect tampering. When the conventional method uses a large structuring element, it degrades an image so much. The conventional method, however, decreases the security, that is based on the large degrees of freedom on selection of the structuring element, by choosing small elements for improving the image quality. The proposed method applies mathematical morphology operations twice to an image to improve the quality of the operated image and to simultaneously keep the tamper detecting ability and the precision of the tampered area. Moreover, each morphology operation uses different structuring elements in the proposed method, it enhance the security by spreading the dgrees of freedom on selection of the structuring elements and by increasing the combinations of structuring elements.
