Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Networked collaborative works with haptic displays often require inter-destination control by which all users obtain information simultaneously. A method of inter-destination control is to lock the terminals (haptic displays) which reached information earlier than the others. This terminal locking method potentially has a problem about the user's perception after the terminal is unlocked. We used a psychophysical method to measure how much a user's subjective impression of elastic force associated with the stiffness of lock and with the duration of terminal locking deviated from the original physical elasticity. The results showed that users' point of subjective equality (PSE) for their subjective impression of elastic force as the duration of terminal locking increased and as the stiffness of terminal lock increased.
