Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To provide users with economical and comfortable telecommunication services, the proper design and management of networks and/or terminals are crucial considerations. In terms of quality design and management, methodologies for appropriately and effectively evaluating the Quality of Experience (QoE) are indispensable. Subjective quality assessment is the most fundamental method to evaluate QoE. However, it is time-consuming and expensive. In addition, it requires special facilities to control the assessment environment. Therefore, objective quality assessment, which estimates subjective quality without carrying out subjective quality assessment, is important. This paper gives an overview of the state of the art of the international standardization activities in ITU for developing quality assessment technologies for multimedia services.
