Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a method to reduce the psychological effect caused by transmission delay in audio communication. In audio communication with transmission delay, a user has to wait his or her partner's response for a longer time than in usual communication. The key of the proposed method is to override extra waiting by "non-differential reply", signal that is independent for content of speech. We examined the effect of pure tone signal and pink noise as non-differential replies on reduction of the psychological effect of the delay. We usud the change of the sorrect recognition rate of a voice recognition system in verbal conditioning as an index of the effects of the transmission delay and non-differential replies. The results showed the non-differential replies by pure tone signal and pink noise reduced the psychological effect of transmission delay.
