Read-error prbababilities of the EAN barcodes

Abstract(in English) EAN code is one of barcodes widely used in retail sales, logistics and others. Barcodes are considerd very reliable but enough reliability data are not available. A new error model is introduced which incorporates contaminations on barcodes. It is shown that a single error on a barcode symbol is detectable. However, some double errors cause the barcode synbol read incorrectly. A new blemish model on barcodes in introduced. This paper derives miss-read probability under the model.
