Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Free-space laser communication is one the promising way to provide a broadband cross connection between geostationary cluster satellites or a group of small satellites in a formation flight. Considering the operating environment of such a cross link optical terminals in an existing small satellite bus, a compact optical tracking system with a wide controlling bandwith as well as small power consumption will be required. This paper reports the design feature and the performance evaluation result of compact fine tracking systems which have been developed at NICT. By implementing an off-the-shelf miniature galvano mirror actuator, a Si-quadrant detector and a specially designed analogue PID controller, the tracking system is proved to have the required performance, such as a 3-kHz control bandwidth, a 1-W power consumption and a 730g weight.
