Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Relationships between acoustic features in concatenated vowels and perception of speaker individuality were investigated through two types of psychoacoustic experiments. The acoustic features in this study were the mean of the fundamental frequency, spectra in higher-frequency region, spectral tilt and aperiodicity of the glottal source. A-X tests (two-alternative forced-choice tests) were carried out for investigating effects of each accoustic feature on speaker identification. The experimental results showed that spectra in higher-frequency region was an essential cue for speaker identification and that characteristics of the glottal source also contained speaker individuality. Thurstone's paired comparison method was used for comparing perceptual effect of each accoustic feature. The experimental results showed the following ranking of the acoustic features according to their perceptual contribution, in decreasing order of importance: spectra in higher-frequency region, spectral tilt of the glottal source, and the mean of the fundamental frequency. Moreover, the aperiodicity of the glottal source contributed to perception of speaker individuality only for a few speakers.
