Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have been conducting voice therapy to Male to Female (MtF) transsexuals in order to improve the femininity of their voices. In every therapy, speech samples were recorded and we have voice samples of more than 200 MtFs so far. Through the therapy, the first author recognized that there are some patterns of methods that they use to feminize their voices. In this report, MtF voices are classified based on not only their physical features but also other various factors, such as MtFs' sexual orientations, living environments, reasons why they want to change their gender, and so on. The proposed classification is considered to be useful to understand the relationship between the variety of MtFs' way of living and their voices. We hope that this classification will contribute to the establishment of transsexual voice therapy in Japan.
