Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexing (ROADM) has been investigated in order to realize high bit rate and flexible optical WDM ring networks for increasing the transmission capacity in optical networks. ROADM module based on a silica-based planar lightwave circuit (PLC) has been reported, because it has high reliability and suitability of integration. We have successfully fabricated a monolithically integrated 20-channel optical switch/VOA/tap coupler array module on a silica-based PLC and obtained high performances for all the channels.
