Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A method for estimating why a baby is crying is proposed using the frequency and waveform analyses of the cries, especially for 1 month-old babies. Here, two causes, hunger and sleepiness, are considered, because they are very common in ususal childcare. Authors clarified before that three causes of cries, that are hunger, sleepiness, and discomfort, can be recognized by the frequency analyses of the cries, especially for 2-4 month-old babies. In this paper, 1 month-old babies are the new objects. Moreover, waveform analyses are newly introduced to make judgment, since frequency analyses are not effective enough, although the shapes of the power spectra of cries are similar to those of 2 month-old babies. In the experiment, about 80% of actual cry data are correctly recognized using the waveform analyses.
