Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) With widespread broadband access network, there are many technical studies of IP-based video distribution (IPTV). On the other hand, Ethernet-based residential network is commonly used to interconnect PCs and home appliances. As a natural consequence, the residential network will be shared by broadcasting signal and communication traffic, in compliance with each QoS requirements. As for MPEG-2 Systems, which is the multiplexing scheme of digital broadcasting, requires transmission jitter of its PCR should be strictly suppressed to recover decoder's clock precisely. In this report, we propose and evaluate a packet scheduling method to theoretically remove the transmission jitter, which is applicable to Ethernet switches in the residential network. By implementation with a realtime OS, it was demonstrated the proposed method suppressed the jitter less than the one of strict priority queuing method and improved instability of decoded video signal caused by the transmission jitter.
