Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The nematode C. elegans has been reported to show thermotaxis, a behavioral response to temperature. There is an inconsistency in observations in previous reports; in some reports, C. elegans is capable of navigating to region of its cultivation temperature from nearby regions of higher or lower temperature, but in other reports, individual C. elegans show only cryophilic behavior. We tried to entangle this apparent inconsistency, and found that a very simple behavioral model can reproduce some characteristics of C. elegans thermotaxis behavior, and it can bring insights into this behavior.
