Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A pair of spatio-temporal stimuli using two stimulating electrodes were delivered to Schaffer collaterals, and post-synaptic membrane potentials were recorded using the patch-clamp recording method. We found that at least two previous pairs of successive stimuli affect the neuronal responses, and the membrane responses were clustered by historical patterns of electrical stimulation. The clustering property in subthreshold condition is different from those in subthreshold condition. Our results suggest that the pyramidal neurons stored information of previous history by temporally compressed mapping. This property could induce the ability of Cantor-like coding in hippocampal CA1 neural circuits theoretically improved by Tsuda and Kuroda (2001).
