Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Retrieving a scene from a long video is one of the most important tasks in video retrieval. This paper focuses on appearance-based scene retrieval. To reliably retrieve video scenes based on their appearance, two problems must be solved. One is query synthesis, which means reprensenting a scene's appearance properly, and the other is feature extraction, which is suitable for retrieving. To solve these problems, we propose query video clip synthesis based on target points indicated by a user in a prepared 3D environmental model and line history image (LHI) as a feature for enabling ambiguous retrieval in case that the 3D environmental model composed of combination of lines, such as those on a soccer field. Appling our method to retrieving soccer scenes demonstrates that user input is easy and retrieval is accurate.
