Interactive human interface for information retrieval based on semantic pattern analysis and intension understanding

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a new human-interface technology for chaining search in order to realize efficient and accurate Web search. When a user selects a word or a phrase on a Web page using a pointing device, this interface determines its meaning by semantic pattern analysis and provides a menu with a set of search methods to the user by intension understanding. If the user selects an adequate search method from this menu, the user is able to access target information relevant to the selected keyword. In this web search, this interface adds extra keywords to the selected keyword according to the selected search method from the menu for accurate information retrieval. Experimental results obtained from 15 trial subjects show that the proposed interface is effective for various Web access.
