Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Spontaneous pupillary oscillation under constant illumination is called pupil nose. In recent years, pupil noise is studied as a subjective measure for assessing exhaustion and sleepiness. Second order statistics such as power spectrum have been widely used to analyze pupil noise and describe its statistical characteristics. However, since pupillary control system is a non-linear system, the level of sleepiness may be reflected in higher-order statistics, such as bispectrum of pupil noise. We recorded pupil noise of human subjects during driving simulation under a sleepiness controlled condition, and calculated its bicoherence. It was demonstrated that there are significant differences in bicoherence of pupil noise depending upon subject's sleepiness.
