Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We are studying the improvement in receiving performance using hand-held terminals which adopt diversity in order to expand coverage of the One-Seg service based on ISDB-T. We developed a prototype diversity receiver for hand-held reception, and carried out field experiments in suburbs that are located between 65dBμV/m oand 80dBμV/m of the fixed reception contour. This paper describes the relationship between input signal correlation factor and reception performance from the results of the field experiments. The minimum required field strength for hand-held terminal, which uses multiple antennas with different directivity, was 9.3dB lower than that of a hand-held terminal with single antenna. The results show that hand-held terminals which adopt diversity are effective as a method of expanding coverage of One-Seg services.
