Fundamental Study on 3-D Antenna Pattern Measurement with High-speed and High-Accuracy for Mobile Terminals

Abstract(in English) The three dimensional (3-D) antenna pattern measurement have received a lot of attention recently, because CTIA and COST prescribe 3-D measurement with over-the-air (OTA) as the method to assess the total radio performances of the mobile equipments. Thus an active mode 3-D antenna pattern measurement system using a base station simulator and an actual terminal is required to perform the assessment. In addition, to evaluate the correlation coefficient of multi-antennas equipped in mobile terminals for receiver diversity or MIM0, a multi-channel 3-D antenna pattern measurement system is also required. This report presents an antenna pattern measurement system that achieves 3-D measurement of antenna equipped in a mobile terminal based on the great circle test method. This system enables us to derive the 3-D antenna performances with high-speed and high-accuracy.
