Marine Radars with Multi-Range Resolution Processing

Abstract(in English) Generally the radar range resolution, which is decided by pulse width of transmitted code, is a constant parameter for detection range. On the other hand, SNR is dependent on the detection range. In this study, it is tried to expand bandwidth of the transmitted pulse to improve a radar range resolution. A multi-range-resolution method then is used. It enhanced sideband spectrum energy, suppresses main spectrum energy and expands the equivalent bandwidth at receiver by using the least square energy shaping filters. The method is applied to a marine radar, which has a simple transmitted pulse. It is confirmed by simulations and experiments. It is concluded that the multi-range-resolution processing can be applied to a marine radar.
