On Practical Design of Power Control Schemes for Distributed Wireless Networks with Shared Bands

Abstract(in English) The present paper proposes two novel and practical schemes for distributed asynchronous power control in wireless networks with shared frequency bands such as delay-limited ad hoc networks and/or cognitive radio networks. These schemes iteratively adjust transmit powers of individual network transmitters with respect to mutually caused interference and efficiently use the techniques of stochastic approximation and time-averaging to assure a robust performance in random channels of both ergodic and non-ergodic type. The most attractive feature of the proposed schemes is that they find theoretically optimal trade-offs to diverse signal-to-noise and interference requirements of multiple users, dynamically sharing a limited number of frequency bands (optimal in terms of Nash equilibrium). Both proposed algorithms do not advantageously assume any particular modulation, coding, QoS measure definition or network architecture, which makes them applicable to a wide range of industrial and scientific applications. Simulations are provided to illustrate our approach and its advantages in comparison with a standard algorithm.
