Study for reliable multicast delivery in base station diversity system

Abstract(in English) With the development of recent wireless communication technology and the spread of Internet, multicast communication, which deliveries same information to multiple users, attracts attention. When the wireless multicast delivery is achieved, a base station can transmit the data to many wireless terminals simultaneously. Since the transmission errors occur frequently over each wireless link, the base station has to perform retransmissions of the lost data. This paper proposes a new cellular system, which employs the base station diversity technique and the error correcting code. In the proposed system, the wireless terminal receives same signals from some neighbor base stations. The received information from the neighbor base stations is decoded by using maximum ratio combining. In addition, the base station performs the retransmission by using a redundant frame that is generated by the error correcting code for all frames constituting the IP datagram. From the simulation results, the proposed method can decrease the delivery delay of each wireless terminal by reducing the retransmitted frames from the base station.
