On Speech Enhancement using Wiener Filter based on Complex Speech Analysis

Abstract(in English) Since speech communication on cellular phone and speech recognition system on car navigation are been exploding in these days, speech enhancement, that removes the additive noise from noisy speech signal, is required. The performance of the speech enhancement determines the performance of speech coding and recognition, accordingly, the better performance of speech enhancement has to be realized. Speech enhancement methods have already been proposed and these are classified into spectrum subtraction (SS), Wiener filter algorithm, MMSE-STSA method and MAP estimation method. In this paper, improved Wiener filter algorithm based on time-varying complex AR (TV-CAR) speech analysis for an analytic signal is proposed. The Wiener filter algorithm proposed by J.S.Lim designs the optimal filter in terms of minimizing mean squared error (MSE) and noise reduction is carried out in the frequency domain by using the Wiener filtering. In order to estimate more accurate power spectrum of the clean speech, iterative algorithm has been proposed, in which LPC analysis is carried out to estimate the spectrum iteratively. In the proposed method the TV-CAR speech analysis is employed in the iterative Wiener filter algorithm instead of LPC analysis. It is well-known that the speech analysis can estimate more accurate spectrum in low frequencies, as a result, it is expected that the proposed method can perform well than the conventional algorithm.
