Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is difficult to deploy a broadband communication system onto the entire track of an intercity high speed rail from technical and financial aspects. One of the solutions to this issue is a combined system of narrow band communication of Mega bps on the entire track and broadband spot communication of tens of Mbps on some specific sections. On the other hand, e-mailing by passengers is done at any time while traveling. When e-mail with large size attachments is tried to sent on a narrowband section, the performance must be very stressful. The priority of e-mailing is generally low and the delay does not cause issues. Therefore the transmission of e-mail on a narrowband section should be avoided but done on a broadband section at a burst. Even in this case the system has to provide users with e-mailing service as usual no matter where a train is running. This paper presents "the Mail Roaming System (MRS)" which tranmsits e-mail with large size attachments only on broadband sections with a full-time confortable e-mailing service to users.
