Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To increase the ratio of the mission equipment at the spacecraft, small-size and lightweight electric power system is expected. Li-Ion cells have high-energy density (twice that of conventional alkaline batteries such as Ni-Cd, Ni-MH and Ni-H_2). Therefore the electric power system with the Li-Ion battery will become smaller and lighter. But the Li-Ion cells are poor at the over-charge and over-discharge. So we must consider about the safety when we use them and we need the development of the protection circuit in the parallel to the development of the Li-ion battery. In this paper we discuss the effectiveness of the balance circuit, which is one of the protection circuits, with the battery lifetime tests and report the principle and the results of the resonance balance circuit which we have developed.
