Abstract(in English)	The social necessity of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for engineers has arisen and it's supporting environment is being expected to be enhanced as a social mechanism. JFES (Japan Federation of Engineering Societies) has started up the PDE Conference (PDE: Professional Development of Engineer) and is advancing the discussion for construction of the CPD environment. IEICE also started up the CPD sectional meeting in 2002, and has been discussing about supports to the ability development and the continuing education for engineers in cooperation with IEEJ and IPSJ. This lecture introduces these backgrounds of the CPD activity and the CPD member system which trial operation started at November, 2006.
