Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Various video systems have been developed for the purpose of the stronger sense of presence, but the quantitative evaluation of the sense is very difficult. Some problems such as an unstability in the quantitative evaluation have been pointed out, though subjective evaluations and physiological responses have been used to evaluate it. This study aims to establish a methodology to clear a quantitative relation between the field of view of the displayed images and the viewer's sense while watching still images with 6 variations of field of view, which correspond to video systems ranging in resolution from high-definition (horizontal field of view is approximately 30arcdeg.) to 4000-scanning-line Super Hi-Vision (100arcdeg.). We assessed the sense by subjective evaluations, and measured viewers' body sway, which is the response of a human equilibrium system, as an index of the sense. The results showed that the quantitative relations between the evaluations and the field of view, and that the validity of the methodology.
