Psychophysical Measurement of Effect of Delay of a Haptic Display on Perception of Elastic Force

Abstract(in English) The haptic media communication is very sensitive to the network delay. In this report, we measured effect of feedback-delay on sensitivity of elastic force using psychophysical method. The results showed that the difference threshold of elasticity did not increase when feedback-delay is not larger than 50ms, and increased when feedback-delay is larger than 50ms. The results also showed that the change of the difference threshold by feedback-delay decreased when each standard stimulus had the same subjective elasticity.
