Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Somatic-marker hypothesis by Damasio says that feeling is a level which is above emotion, and prefrontal cortex is the major location of this function. On the contrary, emotion is accompanied by somatic response and cingulate cortex, insula, and brain stem contribute to this function. Temporal pole and anterior insula are not only important cortices for language, but also are supposed to have key roles in emotion and memory, as they are related with disorders, such as Kluver-Bucy syndrome and autism. In this study, difference of anterior insula and temporal pole was investigated by histology. For the result, these two areas seemed to touch with each other. Both of these has undifferentiated pattern for layer structure, and had dense cholinergic fiber distribution (anterior insula > temporal pole). This distribution may suggest these two areas contribute to emotional function. |
