Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For the accessibility initiative to the visually impaired, it is crucial to provide equivalent documents in Braille to Japanese ones. We have been proposing the BrailleML, which is an XML language described in the XML Schema. Using the BrailleML, we are able to develop automatic Braille translation systems from digital documents with word-processors. The translation process is composed of two steps: first step from digital documents by word-processors to the BrailleML and second step from the BrailleML to Braille documents. Since the latter was successfully implemented in our studies so far, the present study is devoted to the formater process. Herein we pay attention to the OpenDocumentFormat (ODF), which is a standarized XML format of most of the popular word-processors. It suggests that the automatic conversion from the ODF to BrailleML will complete our translation system. We investigate the difference between two XML formats, the ODF and BrailleML, to find that this conversion is highly possible.
