Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have proposed a novel phosphor with an optical waveguide or a microcavity. The phosphor with an optical wave guide is expected to increase a light extraction efficiency, and the phosphor with a microcavity is expected to have directionality and high brightness by optical confinement or lasing. This paper describes the cathodoluminescence (CL) results of the TiO2:Eu microspheres, which we have developed. The results indicate that the CL characteristics show the resonance modes due to the micro cavity even in CL. The paper also describes the preliminary results on the lasing experiments of a ZnO single crystal excited by an electron beam.
