Optical Properties of Electron-Beam-Evaporated BaAl_2S_4:Eu Thin-films

Abstract(in English) The optical properties of BaAl_2S_4:Eu thin-films were investigated. The thin-films were prepared by electron beam co-evaporation, the blue emission peak around 470nm was obtained and FWHM (Full Width at Half Maximum) is approximate 35nm. The dielectric constant and optical bandgap are 3.03 and 4.6eV, respectively. In order to confirm the valence of Eu ion in a BaAl_2S_4:Eu thin-film, XPS measurement was carried out. Divalent Eu ion is dominant form in the film.
