Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To reduce the number of phase shifter, an array antenna is divided into subarrays, and one phase shifter is attached to each subarray. In this case grating lobes will appear when the beam is scanned because of the periodicity of the array. Random arrangement of element antennas is effective to prevent grating lobes. But to change the size or shape of each subarray or to change the number of elements in each subarray requires many kinds of feed circuit for an array and not easy to fabricate. Penrose tiles are composed of two types, and cover a plane continuously without a gap. Using each tile as a subarray, it needs only two different feed circuits and element antennas are arranged aperiodic, resulting decrease of grating lobes when the beam is scanned.
