Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In longhaul WDM transmission systems, 100-Gb/s-class high-speed transmission technologies have lately attracted considerable attention because of the expected high speed client signals. DQPSK (Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) format is suitable for high speed, large capacity WDM transmission because it can support line rates that are twice the operation speed of the electronics. This paper reports the 111-Gb/s/ch large capacity WDM transmission experiment using CSRZ-DQPSK format. In this experiment, high spectral efficiency of 2 bit/s/Hz is realized with the aid of polarization-division multiplexing technique. We also utilize extended L-band optical amplification technique with the gain bandwidth of 7 THz, and achieved the highest total capacity of 14 Tb/s for the first time.
