Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Signal regenerators that can reduce phase noise and regenerate phase information are desired to increase speed and distance of phase-modulated optical signal transmission. This paper describes an analysis of optical signal regeneration for differentially phase-modulated signals such as DPSK and DQPSK signals, in which phase discrimination and regeneration are performed in the amplitude domain. It is shown that reduction of phase noise can be obtained by the use of a combination of a delay interferometer, a fiber-based amplitude regenerator, an all-optical phase modulator, and an optical clock source.
