Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) FTTH provides a triple play service including a primary telephone as social infrastructure. A passive optical network (PON) is a form of emerging access network technology providing low-cost deployment of optical access lines to customers. It is extremely difficult to distinguish an optical branch port in PON system from the central office side due to operation mechanisms of PON. In this report, we pointed out two problems to subscriber localization in PON system and examined the improvement methods. At first, we proposed an authentication method of optical branch port by using RFID tag for an optical fiber terminal. In addition, a diagnostic methodology of PON to identify normal subscribers in disturbance environments is proposed and demonstrated.
