Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Phase-preserving amplitude regeneration of phase-modulated signals can be achieved by the use of saturation of four-wave mixing in highly nonlinear fibers. We report on an experiment of reduction of nonlinear phase noise in DPSK signal transmission by the use of this effect. We show improvement of transmission performance by inserting the amplitude regenerator (limiter) before or inside the recirculating signal transmission system consisting of densely dispersion-managed fibers.
