Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This article describes the design and evaluation of dispersion and dispersion slope of fibers with various refractive index profiles for the wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). A multilayer division method is used for analyzing electromagnetic fields of various refractive index profiles. A criterion is introduced to make a universal comparison of the dispersion slope. Chromatic dispersion and dispersion slope are analyzed to design a low-dispersion-slope fiber in S, C, L-bands. It is shown that W-type shows the lowest dispersion slope among graded-index, M-type, W-type, triple-cladding-type, and a mixture of graded-index and W-type.
