Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a genetic-algorithm (GA) optimization design introducing a phase-evaluation technique on the analogy of ladder prototype circuits for bandpass filters. In the proposed method, the fitness function estimates not only the magnitude of S-parameters but also the phase characteristics in a passband. Conventional GAs without phase evaluation are difficult to design filters having high skirt selectivity, whereas the present method can easily construct a filter with more resonators in the limited space, so that the designed filter can possess a specified passband and also a rapid roll-off response. As an example, arbitrarily-shaped planar-circuit filter is optimized and fabricated. The effectiveness of the present technique is verified by comparison of frequency responses between the calculated and the measured results.
