Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes a modular router with inter-module routings to extend and configure easily. Inter-module routing is the method of packet routing by making various modules cooperate inside a router. By the proposed method, a packet is encapsulated in a message inside a router. "Message" is made of Packet Data, a Data Type, and a Message Type. The route basis of inter-module routing is determined by Message Type and source module name. If modules received a Message, module refers to a Message Router. A Message router is a program for deciding the module which transmits a Message from a database of Message Type, a source module name, and a destination module name. If we want to configure a modular router, we change database in Message Router. We developed the modular router equipped with the proposed method on Linux. In experimental evaluation, the overhead of the development router was small enough. The transfer delay time of the packet was 1ms or less.
